Commit 1 and 3 lgtm, but I don't think
daemon: Don't mix internal and external displays in legacy brightness controls
makes sense. Yes, it's different from X11, but the distinction between built in and external displays is completely arbitrary for me as a user. Controlling all screens is better than some subset only.
